What makes a good poem in this millennia?

This idea of what constitutes good poetry or bad poetry has been debated on and evolved through the years along with literature and the study of linguistics.

The components of a poem that really strike me are its impact and ability to showcase the impact that it brings in contexts and forms we usually tend to miss or not pay attention to.

It is much like painting a picture or filming a movie. Painting uses visual impact, while cinema uses audio-visual means which is also dynamic.

To invoke the imagination of the reader with words in the same way a painting or a piece of cinema would is no easy task. It is not at all easy to leave an impact and message of the same degree on your audience.

But that is what great poets do. Poetry is a cinema of words. Imprinting our vision with just black letters on blank pages.

And all that is still prose.

Poetry is much shorter and still equally impactful. It is the accumulation of the best words in the best possible combinations.

Poetry is another form of the vision of our mind.

But one thing you must remember:

Popular art is not always the best art.

Secondly, we all can have our own favourites.

What really matters is satisfaction of the self.
